When Clover Food Products, Inc. opened it's doors on Pittsburgh's South Side in 1973, the products were housed in an 8X10 foot cooler, Bill Virgi and his father comprised the staff and a station wagon was the lone vehicle to deliver the company's fresh eggs.

That was then. This is now.

The company is now housed in a 17,000 square foot building in Collier Township. In the past year, two loading docks and a dry storage area were added to the warehouse along with a new office facility. And the company now has seven trucks on the road delivering a wide variety of more than 1,500 products. There are now 34 employees at Clover Hill.

Bill Virgi, president of Clover Hill, attributed the company's success and growth in the last 16 years to the efforts of Clover Hill's employees.

"Our sales people on the street have a great deal to do with our growth," Virgi said. "We have a dedicated, hard working staff and the deli explosion, along with the growth of convenience stores, in the last decade has certainly helped our company grow."

Virgi's twin brothers, Ron and Don are vice presidents of Clover Hill. Ron supervises the warehouse, while Don handles administration and distribution.

"The new expansions have enabled us to become a more efficient company," Bill Virgi said, "And our business is a service business. We try to service all of our accounts, by staying involved in the deli business. The deli department today is more than just meats and cheeses. We try to stay involved with the industry so we can provide the service to our customers."

And these recent expansions have made this service much more efficient.
