In 1943, John Groves purchased
a used piece of commercial popping corn equipment and the John
Groves Company was born. The oven went into the Groves’ family
home basement and the smell of popcorn filled the house from
dusk to dawn. After several garages were added, it finally became
necessary to build the first warehouse. As the customer base
grew so did his product lines. The growth resulted in additional
moves and larger customized warehouses.
By the 1970’s, the John Groves Company had become the region’s
premier distributor of ice cream and soft-serve supplies.
In 1994, The John Groves Company became affiliated with Clover
Hill Foods, the the area’s largest independent distributor
of perishable products to the delicatessens and supermarkets.
More than 50 years have passed since John Groves started
his business, but the company still adheres to his basic beliefs
– service, quality and value. we care about ice cream retailers.
